Why is it important to find homes for barn cats: While our primary goal is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), 'returning' isn’t always safe. If a cat’s original location poses a serious risk to their survival—such as a dangerous construction site or lack of long-term care--we must find them a safe alternative. By placing these cats on rural properties or farms, we provide them with the food and shelter they need to survive. In return, you receive a dedicated 'rodent control specialist' to protect your property naturally. Most importantly, these placements help us support our non-euthanasia program and give every cat a chance at a safe life. Adopting barn cats: These cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and given a clear bill of health our vet. They are free of cost. Please contact us if you are interested in providing barn cats a home.
What we look for in barn cat homes:
to be able to provide shelter from the elements.
to be able to provide fresh food and water daily (a well fed cat has the endurance and energy to hunt long term).
to live in an area away from busy roads.
for the first month to provide a confined space (garage, shed, large metal dog crate, etc.) that they can't escape or bolt away from (If you don't have anything to contain the cat we can lend you a metal dog crate). This helps them learn that this is their new home and that the food comes from you and when they are releases outside they will stick around.
to be able to pay attention and watch out for any ailment or injuries that may arise.
if there is a dog on the property it must be cat savvy and not endanger the cats life. You will need to provide dog free spaces that the cat can go if there aren't any already.
